Apple reports record profits; CEO says iPhone 5's screen size is perfect

Apple has reported the numbers for a very strong quarter. The sales of all devices were given a boost during the festive shopping period. Apple made a record $54.5 billion in revenue with a net profit of $13.1 billion.
There were specifics on the sales of the iPhone and the iPads. Apple said that it sold a record 47.8 million iPhones (all generations included) during the 13-week period ending Dec. 29, 2012. This is a steady increase from 37 million in the same quarter last year, which was a 12-week period. A record number again - 22.9 million iPads were purchased, up from 15.4 million during the corresponding quarter last year.
Apart from the big numbers, some very interesting information was shared as well. Apple's average weekly revenue is now $4.2 billion, an increase from $3.3 billion per week at the same time a year ago. Tim Cook, the CEO said, that half a billion iOS devices have been sold till date, with one selling every 10 seconds. He also said that 250 million users have signed up for iCloud, and 200 million iMessages are sent daily. Not just that, 2 billion apps were downloaded from the Apple App Store, garnering in a record (again, that word!) $2.1 billion for Apple. While we keep talking about the future Apple TV, Tim Cook reported at 2 million Apple TV boxes were sold in this quarter.
But all was not good news for the Cupertino giant. They sold 4.1 million Macs, which is lesser than the 5.2 million sold during the corresponding quarter last year. Apple blamed "significant restraints" for the decline in Mac sales. The iPod music player sales were also down to 12.7 million, from 15.4 million last year.
Despite all the record numbers being thrown around, Wall Street remains unimpressed, with Apple stocks tumbling by as much as 10%. Analysts had set the US$54.9 billion mark, which Apple narrowly missed.

Quite uncharacteristically, Tim Cook made it a point to touch upon the aspect of the iPhone display size. “We've put a lot of thinking into screen size and we think we've picked the right one,” Cook said, referring to the iPhone 5, when asked about the rumours suggesting that Apple is developing a larger display iPhone. “The new 4-inch Retina display is the most advanced display in the industry," he continued. "No one comes close to matching its quality. We were able to develop a larger screen size without sacrificing one-handed use."
This would suggest that Apple is not working on a bigger display iPhone, contrary to what the rumour mill would have you believe. However, we would not take this as engraved in stone, because Apple is more than capable of pulling a fast one!

Sony vaio Z

When the Vaio Z was first released in 2011, it became clear that Sony was capable of besting Apple in the premium notebook realm, at least when it came to pure performance and exotic builds. The sub-three-pound notebook — a mix of carbon fiber, aluminum, and magnesium alloy — was one of the lightest and fastest machines available upon its arrival. It was also one of the most expensive, around $2,500 once you optioned it up.

This year’s refreshed Vaio Z still has the same striking design, and it’s still very impressive on specs. It’s also several hundred dollars cheaper, making it a much more sensible purchase. But the 2012 Vaio Z suffers from some weird design quirks, and even with a lowered price tag, it doesn’t do enough to truly outshine its competitors in today’s ultrabook-saturated laptop market.

All of this is housed in a sleek, 2.58-pound, 0.66-inch thin package made of the same unique blend of aluminum and magnesium alloy with a carbon-fiber-accented exterior. It’s definitely an incredibly light and portable notebook, even if it doesn’t technically qualify for Intel’s “ultrabook” label. The choice of materials offers slightly more flex than pure aluminum, and the carbon fiber feels similar to plastic. This gives the notebook a cheaper appearance overall, even though the material is sturdy.Sony has upped the Vaio Z’s power and speed to keep it in step with the advances that have occurred since the original’s arrival. This means it now has the latest, third-generation Intel Core chips. The Z sits at the pointy end of Sony’s Vaio line, and even the most basic model has a dual-core 2.5 GHz Core i5 chip. You can upgrade to a quad-core 2.1 GHz Core i7 chip (like the one in the “Enhanced” model we tested). The 13.1-inch LED display has a higher, full HD resolution, at 1920 x 1080 pixels — noticeably better than the MacBook Air’s 1440 x 900 pixel screen.
VERDICT
Unfortunately, almost nothing about the physical appearance has changed since the Z’s previous incarnation, and that’s not a good thing. The trackpad is still frustrating to use, and its inelegant, carbon-y textured surface doesn’t help. It also remains awkwardly off to the right of the keyboard’s space bar, and is incredibly small compared to other ultrabook track pads. Even more clumsy, a significant portion of the bottom section (where the clicking mechanism lives) is not touch-sensitive.
The keyboard could also benefit from some refining. The chiclet keyboard is not as responsive as Apple’s, and when typing very quickly, it led to a noticeable increase in typos. Another odd design choice is found in the hinge, which strangely lifts the back of computer by a few millimeters when you open the lid. I didn’t mind it too much, but I also didn’t understand the purpose of having such a quirky feature.
Unlike last year’s Vaio Z, the 2012 model does not come with a docking system, which means the Blu-ray drive and extra ports won’t be included. But that also means Sony was able to slash the price by several hundred dollars, making the most basic model of the Vaio Z $1,600. You get 128GB of SSD (upgradeable up to 512 GB) and the necessary ports, including one USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, HDMI output, VGA output, Ethernet, and a headphone jack.
Still, the Vaio Z isn’t easy on the wallet. And if you choose to upgrade just a few features — hard drives or processor or memory — you’ll quickly edge over the $2,000 mark. With more and more high-end ultrabooks entering the market at around two-thirds that cost, it’s hard to justify such a steep outlay, even with impressive specs.
GOOD Sharp and gorgeous matte display that has little to no glare problems. Top-of-the-line specs and upgradeable features. Good battery life, up to around 6.5 hours.
BAD Strange and impractical trackpad. Klutzy keyboard. Carbon fiber elements give it a cheap, plasticky vibe. Expensive.

Samsung Series 9

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has launched the second generation of Samsung Notebook Series 9, which it claims to be the world's thinnest and most compact premium notebook. Targeted at premium notebook users, who are willing pay a bit extra for high quality and great design, the super-slim notebook will be priced at Rs 1,02,990. Though it looks like an ultrabook and has similar specs, Samsung is not calling it one.

"The new Samsung Notebook Series 9 represents the ultimate in Samsung craftsmanship towards precision engineering and premium design. The new Series 9 embodies the originality and heritage of its predecessor while eliminating unnecessary factors. The refined aerodynamic design of the new Series 9 represents the best of Samsung's design with top performance and functionality," states Ranjit Yadav, Country Head, Samsung Mobile and IT.

Samsung claims the Series 9 required 9,000 hours of design work and 24,000 hours of R&D. Components such as the LCD panel, keyboard, motherboard, cables, fan and battery have been precision-engineered to fit precisely in single-shell ultra-slim chassis. The 13-inch version measures only 12.9mm (0.5") and weighs just 1.16kg (2.5 lbs) - 28 per cent smaller than its predecessor. The Toshiba Protege Z830 used to claim the thinnest/lightest Ultrabook slot with a 15.9mm thickness and 1.12kg weight.

The Samsung Series 9 features Samsung's MaxScreen technology, which minimizes the bezel size while maximizing the screen size by an extra inch. It will also feature the latest Intel Core i7 Processor and will have Turbo Boost Technology to intuitively allocate CPU resources as needed. A 256GB solid state drive (SSD) provides plenty of storage, lower power consumption and improved performance with less noise and heat output. It will also have a quick start-up, thus reducing power usage, allowing faster data access and higher reliability. Samsung also promises nine hours on battery life thanks to its advanced Lithium-Polymer battery and Samsung's innovation PowerPlus charging technology.

Samsung has also launched its Notebook Series 5 550P with Intel's latest 3rd generation Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2GB graphics, full HD display, JBL optimised speakers with subwoofer as well as a Blu-ray drive and up to 2TB HDD storage. The 15-inch model weighs 2.5 kg and is priced at RS 62990

First Train in India(1853)

The novel plan for the introduction of a rail system, transformed the whole history of India. This innovative plan was first proposed in 1832; however no auxiliary actions were taken for over a decade. In the year 1844, private entrepreneurs were allowed to launch a rail system by Lord Hardinge, who was the Governor-General of India. By the year 1845, two companies were formed and the East India Company was requested to support them in the matter.

The credit from the UK investors led to the hasty construction of a rail system over the next few years. On 22nd Dec' 1851, the first train came on the track to carry the construction material at Roorkee in India. With a passage of one and a half years, the first passenger train service was introduced between Bori Bunder, Bombay and Thana on the providential date 16th Apr' 1853. This rail track covered a distance of 34 kms (21 miles). Ever since its origin, the rail service in India never turned back.

The British Government approached private investors and persuaded them to join the race with a system that would promise an annual return of 5% during the early years of operation. Once finished, the company would be transferred under the Government ownership, yet the operational control will be enjoyed by the original company. In 1880, the rail network acquired a route mileage of about 14,500 km (9,000 miles), mostly working through Bombay, Madras and Calcutta (three major port cities).

By 1895, India had started manufacturing its own locomotives. In no time, different kingdoms assembled their independent rail systems and the network extended to the regions including Assam, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. In 1901, a Railway Board was formed though the administrative power was reserved for the Viceroy, Lord Curzon. The Railway Board worked under the guidance of the Deptt of Commerce and Industry. It was comprised of three members - a Chairman, a Railway Manager and an Agent respectively.

For the very first time in its history, the Railways instigated to draw a neat profit. In 1907, most of the rail companies were came under the government control. Subsequently, the first electric locomotive emerged in the next year. During the First World War, the railways were exclusively used by the British. In view of the War, the condition of railways became miserable. In 1920, the Government captured the administration of the Railways and the linkage between the funding of the Railways and other governmental revenues was detached.

With the Second World War, the railways got incapacitated since the trains were diverted to the Middle East. On the occasion of India's Independence in 1947, the maximum share of the railways went under the terrain of Pakistan. On the whole, 42 independent railway systems with thirty-two lines were merged in a single unit and were acknowledged as Indian Railways. The existing rail networks were forfeited for zones in 1951 and 6 zones were formed in 1952. With 1985, the diesel and electric locomotives took the place of steam locomotives. In 1995, the whole railway reservation system was rationalized with computerization.

Shri Dharma Shastha and Swami Aiyyappan

Shri Dharma Shastha and Swami Ayyappan are not the same . Swami Ayyapan is an Avatharam of Shri Dharma Shastha who was born by the union of Parama Shivan & Mahavishnu in the Kritha Yuga . This Shasthavu was instrumental to kill Mahishi . Sasthavu have a wife named Prabha and a son named Sathyakan . In some temples, Shashta is worshipped with two wives named Poorna and Pushkala . The Kollengode Sastha temple is following this tradition . In most of the Sashta temples , like Achan Kovil , Thiruvullakkaavu etc. the swamy is being worshipped as a family man.

Ayyappan is an AVATHARAM of Shasthavu who was found as an infant in the banks of River Pampa by the King of the Panthlam Dynasty which ruled there around a thousand years back .Hence Ayyappan is being called as the KALIYUGA VARADAN and is the Diety of Shabarimala Temple who is a BHRAHMACHARI .AYYAPPAN is in the form of an UGRAMURTHY where as Shasthavu is in the mild manner .

Then comes the question regarding MALIKAPPURATHAMMA . If Ayyappan is KALIYUGA VARADAN , how MALIKAPPURATHAMMA being described as the MAHISHI who had lived in KRITHA YUGAM propose to Ayyappan ? It is belived that there was a daughter to the Guru of Martial Arts where Ayyappan had gone for training who was attracted to the Swamy .Being a BRAHMACHARI the swamy could not oblige her and allowed her to sit as Malikappurathamma at Shabari Mala . The other temples inside the coumpound of Shabari Mala like Kadutha Swamy and the mosque of Vavar swamy adds strenth to this line of belief.

To know Wolverine(Fictional character)

Wolverine is a fictional character, a superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Born James Howlett  and commonly known as Logan, Wolverine is a mutant who possesses animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, three retracting bone claws on each hand and a healing factor that allows him to recover from virtually any wound, disease, or toxin very quickly. The healing factor also slows down his aging process, enabling him to live beyond a normal human lifespan. His powerful healing factor made him supersoldier programWeapon X to bond the near-indestructible metal alloy adamantium to his skeleton and claws without killing him.

The  character Wolverine was  created by  writer "LEN WEIN" and   Marvel  art Director  "JOHN ROMITA".

BIOGRAPHY(FICTIONAL CHARACTER):

Wolverine was born as James Howlett in Alberta, Canada, in the late 1880s, to rich farm owners John and Elizabeth Howlett. As the Origin miniseries insinuates and the Wolverine Goes to Hell story fully reveals, however, he is actually the illegitimate son of the Howlett's groundskeeper, Thomas Logan. After being thrown off of the Howlett's property for violent actions perpetrated by his other son, named simply Dog, Thomas returns to the Howlett manor and kills John Howlett. In retaliation, young James kills Thomas with bone claws that emerge from the back of his hands and is cast out by his mother (who then kills herself). His grandfather sends him away with his childhood companion, Rose (who closely resembles Jean Grey). The character grows into manhood on a mining colony in the Yukon Territory, adopting the name "Logan".After accidentally killing Rose with his claws, Logan leaves the colony and lives for a time in the wilderness among wolves until returning to civilization, residing with the Blackfoot Indians. Following the death of his Blackfoot lover, Silver Fox, at the hands of Sabretooth,he is ushered into the Canadian military during World War I. Logan then spends some time in Madripoor, before settling in Japan, where he marries Itsu and has a son, Daken.
During World War II, Logan joins with Captain America and continues a career as a soldier.

Later  he  teams  up  with Professor  Charles Xavier  a  team name  called X-Men.
The supervillain Magneto forcibly removes the adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton. This massive trauma causes his healing factor to burn out and also leads to the discovery that his claws are actually bone. Wolverine leaves the X-Men for a time, embarking on a series of adventures during which his healing factor returns, greatly increased in speed and efficiency (due to the fact that the adamantium in his bones used a considerable amount of his healing factor on a constant basis). It is also realised at this time that Wolverine constantly mutates (unlike other mutants) and that the adamantium slowed his mutation to a halt. His natural abilities such as healing factor and animalistic senses increase slowly over time. Feral by nature, Wolverine's mutation process will eventually cause him to degenerate physically into a more primitive, bestial state. After his return to the X-Men,Cable's son Genesis kidnaps Wolverine and attempts to re-bond adamantium to his skeleton. This is unsuccessful and causes Wolverine's mutation to accelerate out of control. He is temporarily changed into a semi-sentient beast-like form in which he gains greater physical power than ever before, at the price of part of his humanity. Eventually, the villain Apocalypse captures Wolverine, brainwashes him into becoming the Horseman Death, and successfully re-bonds adamantium to his skeleton. Wolverine overcomes Apocalypse's programming and returns to the X-Men.

Skills and personality

During his time in Japan and other countries, Wolverine becomes a master of virtually all forms of martial arts and is experienced in virtually every fighting style on Earth. He is proficient with most weaponry, including firearms, though he is partial to bladed weapons. He has demonstrated sufficient skills to defeat the likes of Shang-Chi and Captain America in single combat. He also has a wide knowledge of the body and pressure points. He is also an accomplished pilot and highly skilled in the field of espionage and covert operations.

He is fluent in English, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Cheyenne, Spanish, Arabic, and Lakota; he also has some knowledge of French, Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese, German, Italian,Portuguese, Korean, Hindi, and Persian. When Forge monitors Wolverine's vitals during a Danger Room training session, he calls Logan's physical and mental state "equivalent of an Olympic-level gymnast performing a gold medal routine while simultaneously beating four chess computers in his head."Much to Professor Xavier's disapproval, Wolverine is also a heavy drinker and smoker - his healing powers negate the long term effects of alcohol and tobacco and allow him to indulge in prolonged binges.

He is often irreverent and rebellious towards authority figures, though he is a reliable ally and capable leader. He has been a mentor and father figure to several younger women, especially Jubilee, Rogue, Kitty Pryde  and has had romantic relationships with numerous women (most notably Mariko Yashida), as well as a mutual, but unfulfilled attraction to Jean Grey, leading to jealous run-ins with her boyfriend (and later husband), Scott Summers. He also married Viper as part of a debt, and then later divorced her. When Squirrel Girl is hired as a nanny for the daughter of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, Wolverine reveals that he and Squirrel Girl had a relationship at some point in the past, and she uses his given name, James, indicating she knew him at some point when he was aware of his birth name. According to Wolverine, the relationship ended with the two agreeing never to see each other again, but Squirrel Girl stated she hopes they "can be professional" during her tenure as nanny.
