Samsung claims the Series 9 required 9,000 hours of design work and 24,000 hours of R&D. Components such as the LCD panel, keyboard, motherboard, cables, fan and battery have been precision-engineered to fit precisely in single-shell ultra-slim chassis. The 13-inch version measures only 12.9mm (0.5") and weighs just 1.16kg (2.5 lbs) - 28 per cent smaller than its predecessor. The Toshiba Protege Z830 used to claim the thinnest/lightest Ultrabook slot with a 15.9mm thickness and 1.12kg weight.
The Samsung Series 9 features Samsung's MaxScreen technology, which minimizes the bezel size while maximizing the screen size by an extra inch. It will also feature the latest Intel Core i7 Processor and will have Turbo Boost Technology to intuitively allocate CPU resources as needed. A 256GB solid state drive (SSD) provides plenty of storage, lower power consumption and improved performance with less noise and heat output. It will also have a quick start-up, thus reducing power usage, allowing faster data access and higher reliability. Samsung also promises nine hours on battery life thanks to its advanced Lithium-Polymer battery and Samsung's innovation PowerPlus charging technology.
